President's Message

The Quirindi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Inc welcomes you to our community website.

Quirindi is called the Gateway to the North West and also derived from the Kamilaroi Aboriginal language, ‘nest in the hills’. Quirindi lies on the Kamilaroi Highway, 410 km northwest of Sydney and 60 km south of Tamworth in the New England District. Quirindi is the hub of the Liverpool Plains Shire with a population of 3,050. We are a rural community that depends strongly on agriculture and tourism as our main industries.

The Quirindi Chamber of Commerce proudly represents over 70 businesses in our surrounding area. The chamber is a non-profit organization that unites a wide variety of businesses, organizations and professional firms to create a community that together we are building a stronger business community.

We are a representative body on behalf of all members to all levels of government. We all serve as volunteers and focus strongly on issues that affect our businesses and communities and try to provide excellent customer service to our customers. Shop Locally promotions are generated throughout the year to try and keep the shopping dollars in our local business community.

We have Shop Locally Gift Vouchers that make excellent gifts for award presentations or just for that hard to buy person the right gift.

Again, we are promoting to keep local dollars in our business community. We strive to see new businesses come to Quirindi and the surrounding area. Quirindi has an Industrial Estate with land available for new business opportunities. We have educational opportunities for employers for their employees through the Quirindi TAFE Campus and the Tamworth-Quirindi Community College and guest speakers on topics of interested to help businesses and employees.

We have hospital facilities in Quirindi and Werris Creek. A new Health One Facility openned in April 2011 to help assist with the medical and health needs facing our community. Quirindi is an ideal place to raise a family or retire with a friendly country atmosphere.

The Liverpool Plains has a lot of history to share with those that enjoy history. The neighbouring towns of Werris Creek, Wallabadah and Willow Tree have played a role in the area’s history. We have the Quirindi Rural Heritage Museum, Bob’s Shed which is a fascinating museum of Holden memorabilia, Quirindi & District Historical Society Inc celebrating 50 years this year with the Historical Cottage and Museum open on Fridays, the First Fleet Memorial Gardens in Wallabadah with a coffee shop to complete the day, the impressive railway station museum and Rail Journeys Monument at Werris Creek and the Quipolly Dam Bird hide. This dam is known worldwide as the birdwatcher’s paradise. You might decide to go and do the Main Street Heritage Walk in Quirindi and follow the trail of sheep and cattle brands etched into the sandstone pavements of George and Station Streets and enjoy the new look of our main street. Our newest attraction is our Royal Theatre that had its grand opening the 23 May 2010 with the first play being 'COSI'.
